Bergen newcomer Aurora Aksnes' - aka AURORA - recent work has recalled Derry maudlin-pop poet SOAK, albeit with slightly crisper production values - a classically Scandinavian twist - but it's the influence of the 18-year-old's fellow Norwegian, Emilie Nicolas, that we're hearing clearest on 'Runaway'. AURORA's clean strains float over hypnotic synth patterns, lullaby chimes and brittle drum breaks; just like her cohort Emilie, it won't be too long before she's making great strides on these shores. - DC
